This session will be held in my home in my 12x16 dining room where ALL the photos you see here were taken.
After all, there's no point teaching you what can be done in a small space unless we really use one!
All of the photographs you see on this page were taken in a home like yours, not in a studio. While lots of space and gear are nice, you don't need a studio and lots of expensive kit to take high-quality portraits of family and friends.
What you do need is to understand the basic principals of how light works and instruction on how you can use that knowledge to get great results from your portrait photography.
I will show you how you can start to improve your portraits immediately. We will start from the basics - a kitchen window and a piece of white card as a reflector - moving all the way up through single light setups using an inexpensive flashgun, to more complex twin-light setups using a variety of modifiers and lights.
We will also talk about posing non-models for the best looks and how to get people and children to relax while being photographed.
Through the day I will instruct you how to gradually add to that initial kit piece-by-piece over a period of time to assemble a more flexible, versatile home-lighting system.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR THE DAY?
Please note that once we move on to flash photography you will be using my camera gear.
However, if you wish to bring your own gear for the non-flash portion of the day:
- Bring your camera and lenses between 30-100mm focal length (if you have them)
- A tripod is not necessary
- A fully-charged batteries for your camera
- A memory card for your camer

- Failure to attend from start date: No refund
If you are unable to attend the course someone else may attend in your place at no additional cost.
All requests for substitutions must be received via email at least 24 hours before the course begins with the name, contact email and telephone number for the replacement student.
Courses cannot be deferred to a later date.
